Albert H. Krehbiel

We offer a broad selection of fine pastels and oil paintings by the Master American Impressionist, Muralist and Art Educator, Alfred Henry Krehbiel,(1873-1945). Enrolling as a student at The Art Institute of Chicago in 1896, he became an instructor there in 1902, and remained at that renowned institution as a teacher of fine art and painting for 39 years. An "artist's artist", Krehbiel is the only American artist ever to win four Gold Medals at the prestigious Academie Julien in Paris. Founder of the Summer School of Painting in Saugatuck, Michigan, Krehbiel was a quiet man who had "little time for the mechanism of commercialism". He was never interested in merely selling his art . . . his passion was painting and paint he did! It is our good fortune that he left us this great legacy of magnificent works to be cherished and enjoyed by today's connoisseurs of fine art. Only in recent years has his genius come to the forefront as a true American Master. Albert H. Krehbiel
